Po najmutí prvních zaměstnanců pro Amazon Web Services v Česku přichází další zpráva s dopadem na zdejší cloudový trh. Microsoft otevře své první datové centrum v regionu, do kterého spadá i Česká republika. Firma dnes oznámila, že tak učiní v sousedním Polsku, kde hodlá do projektu investoval miliardu dolarů.

Akci rozjede s tamním cloudovým poskytovatelem Chmura Krajowa (přeloženo jako národní cloud), který v roce 2018 skrze Polish Development Fund zformovala polská vláda společně bankou PKO Bank Polski. Cloud je partnerem Microsoftu a Google Cloudu.

Chmura Krajowa je jednou z aktivit Polska, které ze země mají udělat technologické centrum v regionu. Zemi se dlouhodobě daří lákat větší investice včetně regionálních sídel ICT společností. Česku se projekty podobně velké jako datové centrum Microsoftu vyhýbají.

Redmond se s Polskem bude podílet na programu Polish Digital Valley. Využívá mimo jiné velikosti tamního trhu a sítě šesti tisíc partnerů. Microsoft kromě datacentra bude v Polsku investovat do vzdělávání odborníků a komunity kolem cloudových technologií.

Z polského datacentra poběží tradiční cloudové technologie Microsoftu, tedy Azure, Microsoft 365 (Office 365) nebo Dynamics 365. Azure má v současné době 58 dostupných regionů po celém světě. Česku byl doposud nejblíže Frankfurt, podobně jako je tomu u Amazon Web Services.

Microsoft v Česku nabízí Azure Stack, tedy možnost zprovoznit funkce klasického Azure na vlastním hardwaru. Prvním, kdo takto vybudovaný cloud začal nabízet, je DataSpring spadající pod AutoCont. Microsoft se mimo jiné připojuje do internetových uzlů NIX.CZ a Peering.cz, v obou případech jde o selektivní peerovací politiku.
